Cm570 oil temperature

I took my friends Signature for a trip to compare it to my Cats. I phoned him when the oil temp got high enough to make me uncomfortable. He told me not to worry about it that it was just getting warmed up. That one is a train tractor so it’s loaded up pretty good at the best of times. It runs 215-220 all the time, and it’s plain scary at the top of a long pull. Cummins told him that was normal for those.

 

Usually 10-20 degrees over engine coolant temp depending on conditions, load etc.

Newer CAT oil temps are a calculated value based on engine coolant temp. At least Petes and KW anyhow. Cummins actually has a sensor.
