Hello,
I took a look at this Canadian Visa website and am doing research on relocating to Canada as a driver from the USA. I don't know if I will follow through on such a change but am looking into it.
What other options for work visa and/or citizenship via cdl or other methods are there?
Has anyone on this forum tried such a process via that website or other method?
From what I understand Canada needs drivers but not many people want to move up there for whatever reasons. Obviously I know Canada and it's citizens have problems like anywhere else so I'm not expecting an easy transition to some ideal place.
However I don't mind the cold winter weather here in NY state and I prefer the wilderness, countryside and small towns over sub/urban areas. I have limited snow/ice driving as most roads are plowed relatively on time and I've only occasionally driven in a few inches of snow with both Class A & B trucks without snow chains.
Besides browsing the internet on my own, does anyone have any recommended websites/tools/forums for such a relocation effort?
I am studying a variety of maps of the region such as weather, climate, temperature, demographics, etc as some of the natural landscapes and wilderness areas interest me anyway as a hobby project.
Alaska and the Far North are too cold and treacherous for me so Southern to Mid Canada seems the obvious choice for now but since I don't like chaotic city driving areas like Toronto, Montreal etc are not of interest to me so that would rule out city P&D jobs as regional and local would be my focus or OTR as a last resort.
Info on moving to Canada from USA?

Honestly you're probably better off in the US.
We don't have (many) truck stops here, most highways are just a single lane each direction and freight really only moves east-west (the northern half of Canada is relatively unpopulated).
That's in addition to having about half your income taxed away and dealing with our freedom-hating government.Magoo1968, reeferwrencher, LameMule and 5 others Thank this. -
You may be right.
I was aware of the taxes and recent convoy protests.
I don't want to be an ice road trucker lol, just some regular driver.
I prefer colder weather and need to get further away from the greater NYC metro urban area.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
It gets cold here. -30 is not uncommon. We had a couple days of -38 last winter and we're not even considered to be in the north either.

Yeah lol just like in other places in the world.
Or people who moved into the NYC metro area because to them it's better then where they were, while to some people here like me it's a nightmare.
What else is new.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -

Why would you want to leave the entire country just because NYC sucks so bad? There are still so many great places to live in rural America as a Commercial Driver it ain't even funny.
