I had owned my own truck in past but with the economy going down so did that but have talked to a few drivers and companies about hauling tankers and have been told after expenses you should bring home between $2000 and 4000 a week does any one have experience with this or any advice. Thanks

I thought you yanked tankers .
I'm company driver for a tanker carrier . We have plenty of work . Company drivers are doing pretty well but the O/O's aren't as happy .
With this economy and CSA 2010 starting up I'd be real hesitant to buy a truck to put in any segmet of the industry .

It'd be nice if someone with experience could chime in on this topic. I have a lot of the same questions that the thread starter has.

There are some o/o tanker drivers who seem to be making pretty decent money, though I haven't really dug in for details yet. Like much in this industry, it helps to know where to go for the loads, and to be in a freight rich area.
Around AR, it seems like I've been seeing quite a few more pneumatic tankers being pulled by o/o tractors, since the gas industry has been ramping up around here.

Most of our affiliates pull dedicated tanks from vendors near the terminal . Just deliver and come back empty . We have some where we don't even wait to unload . Just drop the loaded tank , grab the empty they have there , and bring it in .
