Generally you are better to make long-term decision and suffer through the short-term. Once you get through the short-term period your life becomes less complicated and you see the benefits of the better long-term decisions. I grew up poor and saw the difficulty. Almost every situation can be improved by delaying gratification now for the benefits that come later. If there is ANY way to cut your expenses and finish out the 1 year period I would do that. No good company ever rejects a driver because he stayed at an employer too long. If you get into a pattern of changing jobs too soon, you block yourself from working at the better companies. My bias is always to stay put and ride it out, if possible.

I do understand some of the problems that megas create for the industry as a whole. And, many folks simply don't fit in well at a mega. Some of us do. Before I worked for Swift, I worked for the US Government, the largest employer in the US. I understand the pros and cons of working at a place where you're a number, so to speak. I'm used to it and like the protections a big company provides that are lacking from a small company. I understand many don't. To each their own.
Problem as I see it are folks who do little to no research, think everything is just going to be handed to them without having to work for it. And then the sour grapes when their unrealistic expectations aren't meet.Manchu, Chinatown and GoneButNotForgotten Thank this.
