I can get the idling when someone is in the truck, what I don't get is when they go into the truck stop or whatever and leave the truck on.

I don’t run OTR, but every nite at home I run a floor fan in the bedroom, to cover up all the sounds from city living.
Sirscrapntruckalot and tscottme Thank this. -
Because you don't save that much fuel by shutting it down for that 30 minutes or whatever while taking a shower.tscottme and God prefers Diesels Thank this.

There are a lot of reasons for it. For one they might have a fridge and/or CPAP which on their own are unlikely to kill the truck but ive had mine have issues when my batterys were worn in the past especially when cool. Next a lot of truck stops smell like piss, nothing says good sleep like smelling a urinal all night long. After that is the fact for some of us 70 degrees is stifleing to sleep in without a lot of air circulation but 40 degrees is comfy as hell or vise versa.
Additionally there may be a problem with the truck such as a bad starter and they just ran out of hours trying to get home and are trying to avoid a tow. Maybe they are using a microwave and/or hotplate. Maybe playing a video game for a few hours before some rest. Maybe the truck is parked under the #### sun so that perefect weather is good outside but the inside of the truck is a bloody oven. Maybe they are worried someone will use the cracked window as a way to get into the rig? How about the truck beside them has an apu or reefer or hell is an old truck spewing smoke and gas and leaving it running is keeping fresh air coming in.
The hell is it any of your business anyway? If its their fuel let them burn it to be comfortable its their dollar, if its the companys fuel and the company doesnt care why should you?
P.S people like you are why we have emissions systems foisted onto trucks and mornic EPA laws that make new trucks cost more then a #### house while having less reliabilty then a russian tank.Brettj3876, pete781693, Gsm and 4 others Thank this. -
I do that. I figured it made people happy listening to it. I mean what man doesn't love a straight piped diesel? Just the air molecule vibrations it causes keeps my belt buckle shined while I'm standing next to it. It's like an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner.Brettj3876, GoneButNotForgotten, pete781693 and 1 other person Thank this.

I have one better than that. Duct tape and black construction paper, and see how long it takes him to notice.

Depends on the APU my tripac will keep my truck comfortable enough to sleep in upto 90ish degree weather though it really struggles past 80. I plan to swap the dinky stock fans out for high output fans this summer sometime and upgrade the entire unit with this kit. THERMO KING TRIPAC AND EVOLUTION A/C UPGRADE KIT BLOWER MOTOR AND CONDENSER COMBO KIT - APU Center which a few friends swear by.
