    Greetings,

    Got my CDL-A privately, with all endorsements, including Hazmat. Late 50's, looking to get the heck out of my current office job which I'm on for more years than I am willing to count.
    I know I can call Prime :) ....but there are few things that hold me back, chief among them is spending 3-4 months in a truck with someone I don't know. I know I need training, but Prime's training is really not for me. I am not a kid anymore and I am looking for other options. I prefer local driving as well over being out on the road for weeks even if it means less pay.
    I am in the Greenville SC area.
    Appreciate any feedback.

    Thank you.

    Look into dry bulk companies, sometimes they have training. Find a cement plant or a redi-mix plant and sit there for a day and take numbers. It's somewhat active work and can be dirty.

    @Chinatown

    Also, look into the LTL companies with docks nearby, some have dock-to-driver programs. Fedex Freight, Yellow, Old Dominion, Estes, T Force, XPO.

    Since you're new to trucking, keep in mind that all trucking companies suck. Especially family-owned companies, unless you like working for a smug entitled silver-spoon kid that goes home early.

    Here's a craigslist search set up the way I do it, check Bundle Duplicates and filter out doordash, OTR, and family companies...
    greenville transportation "-family -OTR -Doordash -doordash" jobs -...

    For anyone else, here's what I paste in the CL search bar...
    -family -OTR -Doordash -doordash

    Also look at simplyhired.com they still have quick apply without making an account like Indeed, same owners.

    I’m actually in a similar boat to yours. Me and my partner are just finishing up getting our CDL. We’re also from around Greenville (Anderson to be specific). We want to run teams OTR and we’re looking for a decent company that will train us. You might check out Indeed and see what’s listed on there. Last I checked there were quite a few jobs in the Greenville/Spartanburg area and some are willing to train. Also a google search will show give you a ton of results, you’ll just have to sift through the BS till you find what you’re looking for. I’ve also heard Budweiser is alright to work for, they’ve got that big distribution center off 85 by Piedmont. They might be willing to train you. Wish I had some more specifics but I can’t think of any right off hand. Good luck to you, let us know how it goes
