Hello we just recently got our dot authority and could someone help us out please

Our ISS score is extremely high right now we haven't even been on the road yet they said it's because we got randomly selected. Does that mean for the first month or even longer we'll be selected for an inspection at every weigh station we pass? How do we bring the score down? What would they inspect at weigh stations besides our vehicle? Is it common to get a 99 ISS Score as soon as you open your DOT?

    Thank you so much!!

I am assuming that you are talking about your safety score is that correct? Have you had an inspection with violations? If so the way to lower your score is to get good inspections.

You're a new entrant basically prone to make sure you are doing things right. Yes you could be pulled for inspection or maybe not. You will be audit later by the D.O.T later so keep your paperwork in order for it.

Since you have no ISS history and are new, you will be targeted.

The more 'no violations' and few 'out of service' inspections the better your ISS will get.

I’ve never heard of such a thing. Usually you start out unrated. Once you have a few inspections you eventually get a safety score. The actual score is satisfactory up to 74 or 75, then it’s conditional. Meaning it’s up to the Trooper to do an inspection or not. Once it gets high enough to be unsatisfactory. Inspection is Mandatory. There’s 3 different criteria Driver, Equipment, and Paperwork if I remember correctly. Any of the 3 that’s above 75 is not good. Not sure what number unsatisfactory starts at. Don’t want to find out either. Minor warnings aren’t bad. OOS orders are what hurts. Passing inspections lowers the number. The number is a total of preceding 30 mos. So it could take up to 30 mos. to lower a bad score. Quicker with some good inspections. I’d ask for some clarity from the DOT in your State. You may have misunderstood. Randomly singled out always raises an eyebrow for me. I’ve been randomly singled out for over 60 inspections in 6 yrs following an accident. They finally left me alone. I got so aggravated at one point I started questioning why I got inspected so much. I passed every one of them, no OOS orders. Makes one wonder.

This does happen. My 3rd or 4th month active they did this to me. I posted the letter here once that I got from prepass when they did it. Was basically 100% pull-in at all scales and a few states were at 95% pull-in. It sucked and it’s true. I was redlighted everywhere I went. So I got a little creative and rode it out. Was only 30 days.

Then just as prepass said in 30 days I was back to green light most of the time.
