I'm highly in favor of detention pay, real detention pay, not the you wait for X hours for free, and then we'll ask for detention pay, the customer will cut that in half, and we will pay you for 10% of your waiting time.

I'm opposed to govt "fixes" to the outrageous amount of unpaid detention because the govt is dishonest, clumsy, ALWAYS working for some big donor's purpose. I'd rather see the industry collude and fix the problem without the govt. No govt fix fixes the problem they claim to fix. Did Minimum Wage law & Welfare end poverty? Demanding govt fixes to problems is like buying more drugs from a drug dealer, they are happy to get further into your life and your live never improves from taking more of their stuff. The nation is swirling the drain because society is just one big grab for "free money", preferential laws to screw your opponent, and the cheapest way to force your way onto everyone else. The govt doesn't fix problems, they screw the people who aren't handing over bags of money to be protected from govt.

 

Where are you getting your numbers from? Because saying that freight volume is almost unchanged in 30 years is hard to believe.

 

Mine also. Only 2 Costco's I won't deliver too because their a PITA to get into. Most stores I'm out in under a hour

 

Costco DCs, yes. Costco stores can get frigged with a wawa brush. I can't count the number of times I've had O'Dark-Thirty appointments just to be told "we need to handle the fresh deliveries first" or "we don't need your product, but we do need Other Driver's stuff, since he's here we'll take him first". One store rejected 1 package of paper towels for damage. It took 3 hours to get the cargo claim resolved.
