When did you have your overhead set last? Sounds like you may have a lash issue in the Jake. My 2 5EK’s both have Pac Brakes on them and I haven’t had a minutes trouble with either of them, but I know a few people who have had lash problems with the Jake’s tightening down on those engines.

Thanks for your reply, overhead was ran about a month ago. They set jake slaves to 0.030. Is that to right for a 3406e model?
-
That is the correct lash. The question is did they all stay where the wrench put them? Like I mentioned, those engines came with 2 different brakes on them. Pac Brake or Jacobs. The Jacobs brakes seem to tighten themselves down. Lash affects the timing of the valve events to a certain degree. It sounds like you have an exhaust valve on one hole starting to open before the piston is at TDC. Like you would have if the brake lash was too tight on one. Compression sneaking past that early valve would be the squeaking sound you hear.Oxbow Thanks this.

Did you check for exhaust leaks @ exhaust manifold ports and turbo flange gasket?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
One of my Lease/Ops had a manifold leak on his CM870. Was hilarious, as soon as you fueled it up it sounded like the biggest kazoo on the planet.

I set my 1LW jakes at .033-.034 they work so much better. Just a tip, learn how to do your valve adjustments yourself then you know for sure. It actually is quite easy.

so, re-ran overhead and everything was in spec. Test drove and once water is warm the chirp comes into play when jaking on high after a few seconds. I am beginning to think it’s the fan solenoid chirping? Does jake run fan on high?
-
ECM can be programmed to turn it on when engaged

Will a new solenoid stop the chirp? Do they wear out and start chirping? Bottom line that chirp every time I jake is irritating as $#!+
