Good lord, put the cell phone down man.
I saw a guy just last week driving along with a newspaper draped over the steering wheel, idiot. I watch these dash cam videos on YouTube. There's tons of them 4 wheelers and tractor trailers...road rage etc..Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I'm sorry, what was that? I wasn't paying attention,,
Another Canadian driver and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
The only way to get this kind of "phone thing" out of the equation is to:
1: install jammer in each vehicle on the road to prevent DATA coming in or out (should be provided by the phone carrier with the phone purchase.. mandatory)
2: to develop an app which detects speed over 3mph (a walking speed) and blocks the DATA while moving.. and make it MANDATORY and NOT removable right from the mfr of the phone
3: if, by the user, those measures are avoided, on the phone carrier side.. detect moving phone with no software and/or GPS on - shut the phone DOWN for the duration of the moveAnother Canadian driver, dwells40 and allniter Thank this. -
I think this absolutely has to be done! Even if a few aholes find a way around the disabling, most wont so the majority should remain disabled. Needless to say, 911 would still work.
When I'm stopped at a red light or in a line of stopped traffic I keep my eyes on my rearview mirror. I also leave room between mine & the car in front to pull to the side & go if I see #### about to happen. My dad & drivers ed taught me to look both ways b4 I move when the light turns green. This has saved me quite a few times & also made me witness quite a few bad wrecks. A couple times a car ricocheted into mine but the damage was minor. This last time the driver was a Honduran in the country illegally, drunk as hell
! He injured a 63 yr old driver so severely, she died after 3 days in the hospital & her 66 yo husband had a heart attack & died when he heard the news! So sad!!
Another Canadian driver, dwells40 and goga Thank this. -
There’s ALREADY an app that does this. It’s called Evvy!

The point is, it has to be built in as part of the OS!)
PS: that "app" is just another way of making money for the developing company, like many ELD companies do. I was talking hardwired, non removable on ALL phones for EVERY driving human.Last edited: Apr 9, 2022
Another Canadian driver and dwells40 Thank this. -
Unfortunately some people aren’t going to go for that. They don’t like being constantly tracked.
Plus I’m some jurisdictions it has to be removable so it doesn’t run afoul of illegal wiretapping statutes.Another Canadian driver, Sirscrapntruckalot and goga Thank this. -

Who is going to ask? You want to drive, you have it "ON"Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
One more thing, those kind of apps are monitoring and reporting, try to understand what I'm saying - NO DATA in or out, no tracking, no monitoring, just NO DATA, it is plane mode, dead area, no booties to watch, no TikTalk, nothing... only calls, like the first phones were.
It is like you go over DATA limit and carrier slows it down to a crawl, in this case, you move?, it is OFF.Another Canadian driver and Snailexpress Thank this.
