(sarcasam alert)
you mean like HOS rules force drivers to go to bed when they are out of hours and keep dispatchers from pushing drivers to run after they have used up all their drive time for the day???
Companies will not install APUs until they lose money for not having them.
How it is some companies still believe APUs are not worth the investment and wont install them while other companies have them installed and have realized their worth, I dont know.

Probably because they're so ###### overpriced that they've become a ripoff. It really pisses me off that everything to do with a heavy truck is marked up 300% or more just because it goes on a rig. Maybe I can start my own APU company and sell units for a real price instead of ten thousand freakin dollars. I could build one from scraps for less than a grand, it's ridiculous.Echo Thanks this.

I think we need to look at this from a different angle. NJ has also passed a ridiculous law saying that we can't have any snow or ice on the roof of the trailer, so we have to start carrying lotsa dryer hose to keep the trailer roof melted, and if it also keeps the cab warm, then that's just a bonus!

Man, aint that the truth!
I bought a cheap, use it twice set of jumper cables for the wife's van at Wal-Mart, $8.99. I saw the same exact jumper cables, same brand name and packaging, at a t/s, $24.99!!! -
few years back I was unloading in downtown Aspen. It was 5 deg. out, the receiver (Hyatt Grand Resort, Spa and Condos) was handling the unloading, it was going to take 4 hrs. They told me to relax in the truck and wait. Since it was so cold, I was idling the truck for heat, napping, cop cam eup and knocked on the door and told me I couldn't idle. I told the cop that it was too cold to not idle the truck, he threatened me with a $500.00 ticket. I told him to follow me, we went to the back of the truck, I told the crew unloading me (the trailer was full of plasma tv's) to get out because they wouldn't let me idle the truck for heat so I was leaving. The one unloader ran and grabbed the hotel general manager, I'm not sure what he told the cop, but I believe it involved references to the multi-million dollar hotel, with it's million dollar condo's, and that if this load was not unloaded and the hotel was delayed in opening, then there would be hell to pay when they refused to pay thier tax bill to the city on time. Needless to say, I was allowed to idle.

####, mine cost $70. I got them from NAPA though. I know they're overpriced but the boss likes to shop there anyway. They are nice cables.
