My wife and I both are fully aware of what trucking is like on the home side of it, being that both of our dads were/are truckers.

My plan is just as you said, OTR for year and then pursuing better options with more home time.
Thank you for being optimistic on the matter.

I know it's going to put a strain on our marriage, but we'll be fine. Especially since I'm not staying OTR. Just trying to do it to fulfill the agreement I signed and get my cdl and experience which is most important.

Kyle G. and Boondock Thank this.

I might do that, who knows. But Millis is my cheapest option for schooling, even compared to my local schooling.

As for what 201 said, that doesn't sound like a trucking issue, more like an issue with his wife because as he said himself, she wasn't happy with anything he did. And my daughter is not going to remember me not being home for her first year.

I've been to Peoples Cartage. I did the vending machines in that place for a while.

Definitely think I'm married to the right women.

Oh, the optimism of youth, do you realize, in all my years, how many times I've heard that? "Oh the wife is fine with it", only for a year", "just until a local job comes up",,,I'm sorry, I've heard that dozens of times. The old lady gets tired of holding a phone, 8 years later, still doing OTR, wifey long gone, and the kid does indeed recognize you as their father FROM THE GET GO, , or the person taking your place as "daddy", harsh words? You bet, and about time someone tells it like it is,,:biggrin_25516: and be a father! BTW, my ex was an axxhole, but guess what, I never knew that dating her,,I gave her a mansion on a hill and 2 great kids, and I lost it all, all I worked for, for 18 years, so be ready for that. "Half full, my axx",,
