Hes just being honest I suppose, how does the old saying go "you may not like what I say but at least I speak the truth" Anyway I personally do wish you the best if your new to the industry, maybe you'll be the exception to the rule and succeed, where others have failed. Just make sure you do all your due diligence.

As @Mike250rs said, starting out as a company driver will be better for you. I am still newer to the industry and I would love to own my own truck and be my own boss, but this isn't feasible as a new driver. You said that you are new to the industry as well, correct?

Do you know how much a tire on a semi is or an engine alone? You want to learn the industry on a company's dime first. Don't set yourself up for failure. Are there people that can do it? I suppose nothing is impossible BUT most of us don't have our parents to pay for everything for us. You want to learn the industry and have a decent savings before becoming an O/O because if you mess up or that truck breaks down, now you aren't making money and the place you are making payments on for a truck will not care. They just want their money.

If you are already a driver, you should know how to check oil, tire pressure, etc. Basics. I sure as hell don't know everything. I can guarantee I still don't know things that I should. And of course I'm not vehicle savvy, so buying a truck I would definitely need help from an old schooler :) But if you don't know simple things like that, you definitely shouldn't even consider buying a truck at this moment in time. Give yourself the time to learn the industry and make sure you also will want to stay in it not to mention the fact that having a relationship or being married is....difficult to say the least. My ex-husband was (still is) a trucker. I wasn't at the time. We got divorced. I became a trucker and my ex-boyfriend left me because he didn't want to be with a trucker. It's a rough life. I love it more than anything and am proud to be a trucker, but boy do I feel so alone at times especially when I'm not BUSY BUSY BUSY.

We aren't trying to be ##*h**** on here. But it isn't a good idea to jump into being an O/O or buying your own truck :) Still the decision is yours and whatever you choose, I wish you the best!

Maybe he's falling for the passive income scheme. Gonna buy trucks to rent to drivers.
