If I see I can NOT do it, I would not even consider anything that "crazy". Like I've said, it was couple of times, otherwise I see lots of other fellow foreigner drivers jumping out and helping back iners, mostly because they are backing in into the spot next to their trucks

downshifting due to loosing speed pulling a grade i normally just take a full gear like you would on a 9 speed pull it down to the bottom of the rpm range drop a full hole down. unless its holding speed in the current gear but im lower than id like in the rpm range then i will split a half down. if I'm approaching a grade i know ill have to down shift on i will normally split my half down before i even start up the grade so im already on the high end of my rpm range before I actually start pulling so ill start the pull in 17 then drop to 15th once i loose enough road speed.
D.Tibbitt, goga, TooTiredToTalk and 1 other person Thank this. -

I did the exam in 2k, not a word, I did not even know the "requirements", just drove the way I knew.
PS: I don't think it should be a "matter of attention" to pay to from the DOT, as long as the truck is moving and is moving safely on the road. How and why one is shifting this or that way has nothing to do with the vehicle movement.Last edited: Apr 14, 2022
