it is supposed to help with lubricating the pump & injectors,to help make up for the lack of sulphur in the new ultra low sulphur fuel blends.

The problem with running any kind of oil through a medern fuel system is that they were not designed to have oil ran through them...even at the small ratios guys are doing. The injectors and even pumps are built to such tight specs that the oil can actually cause more harm than good. Also some of the oil (motor oil, not 2 cycle) won't burn off completely and could leave deposits in the injector and cylinder. If a person really wants to keep the lubrication up they need to look into the fuel additives that are designed to do just that.

I mix up Power Service anti-gel, Marvel mystery oil, and sometimes a little Lucas fuel treatment in a gallon jug and keep one in all 4 of my trucks. They get a splash or two of my ####tail with every fuel stop and I can usually tell a difference if I forget it.

That it may do, but I just usually get biodiesel. Numerous studies have shown biodiesel does more for lubricity than all the other stuff off the shelf, even at levels of just 2%. And the added benefit is that it doesn't cost anymore at the pump and it has a slight solvent effect on the fuel system and keeps it cleaned out. Unfortunately, it isn't available everywhere.

Sulpher was not a lubricating property of diesel. The treatment to remove the sulpher reduced the lubricity qualities of diesel. Biodiesel has 0% sulpher but has great lubricity qualities.
