I worked at a landscaping company for a few years in my 20s. Great exercise, outside all day, pay sucked. Bossman wanted to implement a pre-employment and random drug testing policy....2 of the managers had to explain to him that if he did that nobody working there would pass and he wouldnt have anyone to hump wheel barrows all day. Same for the trucking industry.

Thorny topic but I'd like to see some hard data suggesting that drug testing makes anybody safer at any job ever. It's just another big business now that made people rich starting back in the 80's during Reagan.

Of course there is no way for a roadside traffic stop to ascertain level of impairment with anything besides alcohol, so it gets left to the cat and mouse game of whiz-quizzes and hair follicle tests, basically to determine if previous behavior can predict future bad or irresponsible behavior on the job.

Gee. That’s too bad. So if you can even smell weed burning you’ll test positive for 6 months!!
