Has anybody done comparisons of before and after programming injectors to 75. I believe 75 is the magic number? I could be wrong. Been told truck will run better. What are your experiences? Good or bad?

Supposed to make a difference on the low end, more power while taking off from a start. Also can cause a rough idle. You can try it, see what you think. I had my last 12.7 set to 75, seemed to make it a little more responsive in the pedal. Made it idle a bit rough. Hard to say. I’ve heard others say a dyno test showed no improvements. I’m not sure what the effect is. Maybe makes them open a bit sooner? Equal to increasing the timing maybe? Just a guess. My current Truck, I had the highest # calibration set to 75, and increased the other 5 by the same amount. I was told years ago, to do it that way, so it will idle smooth. It does idle smooth. I’ve also read that the calibration numbers are random. I don’t think it does much. I’ll probably set mine to the correct calibration eventually. I have an occasional stumble, with white smoke. The manual says it could be calibration codes. The Ddec 1 and 2, and maybe 3? didn’t have calibration codes on the injectors from what I’ve read.

It doesn't do anything . Just a super trucker bs story.

Tell me about your occasional white(blue smoke) smoke stumble? I experience the same thing here. Mechanics look at me like I'm crazy when tell them. Their are no detroit guru's around here what so ever(hour south of chucago). I can get this truck at certain rpms and it stumbles plus or minus a few rpms no problem clears up like nothing happened. This is a 98 ddec 4 with injectors all set at 75. Engine is on its 2nd ecm. Haven't fell in love with the detroit's like everyone talks. However parts are cheaper than cat.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
It’s done it since my overhaul. Much worse when filters are close to full. It still does it rarely after new filters. Don’t know the cause. It happens most often after idling for at least 15 minutes. Stop for a coffee, get going, and around 1450-1600 it stumbles. I can feather the pedal and make it keep stumbling. Can also hold it steady while traveling maybe 35 mph, in the same rpm range, and make it happen, by lightly letting off the pedal. It will do it at lower RPMs too. Once it’s revved up, it goes away. Not before missing and blowing lots of white smoke. It rarely does it. I’ve cleaned the tanks with algae biocide, changed filters. Thought I had it fixed a few times. It’s a common problem apparently. I’m thinking injector harness, since it was disturbed during the inframe. Maybe it’s the pedal itself? They usually go out totally when bad. Till I change some parts, it’s a mystery.
