They should just pay $25/hr and raise prices accordingly. I got a dollar @shooter19802003 will be the first to whine about that as well.

Just a side note on food service and tipping.
Federal regulations on labor positions that are classified as wage and tips, food service as an example, the minimum wage is $2.35 per hour.
Tipping is subsidizing the restaurant labor cost. The other question becomes what are you willing to pay for a restaurant meal, to pay a reasonable wage to all the workers in the facility, it would likely double or slightly more to cover that. Would you be willing to pay $15.00 to $18.00 or more for that breakfast plate? No tip would be required.

I hear what your saying, but I disagree. You agreed to work for X with your employer. I wasn't present at the time, why, because I'm the customer. So to use your example properly.....if I agree to haul a load for X, but when you show up to unload, you demand extra money. Now, what warrants that money? You already agreed to the rate. What did you do above and beyond to earn that? So...if it was a no tarp load and was fragile I'm some way. Then along the route it started to rain and hail. So you decided to pull under something and tarp it to protect the load. That is tip worthy. Because it is above and beyond the agreed terms. However, just showing up with an undamaged product like usual, like agreed upon is not tip worthy.

Then I have a choice not to go. Which I won't. It's my money to choose what I do with it. Do with what you please with yours. Nobody is entitled to mine though.

Depends on the food and service. Because I do on the regular. If you ever eat at nice restaurants, their wait staff and matradees, make good money on a base wage. Why do people, like myself pay it, because the food and service are worth it.

we can agree to disagree...my example of trucking was only an analogy to help illustrate something you can relate to, to what people do in the service industry.. it was not to be taken litterally... in service , when you are hired, your agreed upon rate is hourly wage + tips. nothing more nothing less.. as a customer, your bill is for the food plus the service that you are provided... whether you want to pay for that service it is up to you, but paying for that service is paying the other half of your bill. although optional... and trust me, a good service provider is like a shark in water.. they already know if people are going to tip or not, just by the way they look and act... i had it down to a science, but its an unwritten thing you dont speak with anybody, because its profiling and customers would be offended. and you will have no advantage over your competitors (other servers) if you were to share these things ..

so when you are juggling multiple customers at one time you are going to take your chances and provide better service to those who you think will tip you more, and the people you dont think will tip very good, or not at all, will get poor service. which if you played your cards right, it wont matter because you fully expected it... some could argue you should always go above and beyond for every customer but the reality is, some people will never tip you no matter how well you do your job... which that is your other half of your paycheck, so if you provide even average service and dont get a tip then you are only getting paid for half your job...and if you spend so much energy on giving everybody decent service you will not be able to go above and beyond for the people who tip very well.. and thats where you make most of your money at.. thats why you have to profile people, and you get to know your regular customers and provide better service than your competitors (other servers) do so you gain their business.. which is why good service is hard to find. because who wants to do all that for that little wage? when someone with that personality can make 6 figures in a sales job, with less physical work and beratement from your customers.

with all that said, the moral of the story is what @Espressolane mentioned. if resturants get rid of tips and just pay a fair hourly wage, the price of your food is going to sky rocket and you will say, it is not worth it to eat out anymore because it is to expensive. and there will not be any resturants left to eat at.
