So I received an offer from Messer which is the only bulk cryo outfit in town here (used to be Linde), we have Praxair but bottles only as far as I know. The benefits are good and the 401k match is nice, the mileage/hourly pay is a bit confusing but everything seems great. The manager and driver trainer seem like great guys and like everywhere else they are having trouble getting drivers in the door.
I don't mind the cameras but the super strict No phone policy seems a little extreme. They are saying $85-115,000 a year only working 5 days. Has anybody worked there or currently work there? How is it and is the pay as good as they say? Thanks in advance.

I have no knowledge of the company . But the no phone policy isn’t out of line when you’re hauling haz mat tanker .
plus , I’m old enough to remember when they invented cell phones .
And then 30 years later the smartphones
I lived most of my life without them , so it’s no big deal for me to turn it off and leave it in my pocket .Dennixx, Another Canadian driver and Numb Thank this. -
@Mack185, if you don't mind my asking....what city/state are you in (or near)?
Yes, for hazmat tanker, & the described phone policy...get used to it.
I haul fuel--phone policy here is the same.

Well I started with Linde witch was ok. The I ended with Messer witch was horrible. Once it changed to messer the money dropped. But aside from that it kept going down hill and I left.
From what im hearing. There are only 5 original guys left from when I was there. Most of them quit. But a few got fired. And what was funny to me recently was. They had a job fair and no one showed up. Witch I'm sure the word has got out abt how they are.
Air Products was the best cryo company to work for. But every since they installed driver facing cameras. They can't keep drivers because of ppl quiting.
Its always said at praxair (the new Linde), airgas, Messer, matheson that they are the type of companies to get training to go somewhere else in the cryo industry. Because they lose so many drivers due them quiting or getting fired.Another Canadian driver and Cat sdp Thank this. -

Life is what you make it.
We have never been able to use a phone period in the truck.
Not a problem for me but I get how some younger cats may miss it. The cams we've had for the past 5 or 6 years and don't come into play w me and have never been called out for "behavior " issues.
If your done traipsing the country and want to continue to drive but need a life outside of the truck I don't know of a cleaner, easier gig.
I haven't made less than 100K in 10 years and my 401k is very healthy.
Home most every night and no push back for making the call on any safety issues.
It takes a bit of discipline to make a go of cryo work but can be lucrative and fulfilling imho.viper822004, muffintop, RockinChair and 1 other person Thank this. -

Have a defined that works for them pulling hydrogen. Runs team, out 5 days, I think he’s in the 130-150 range. He loves it, but from what he said they don’t mess around with the no cell phone thing. I think the camera can even detect you on one and send in the video, though that may just be the rumor mill milling.
