I just bought a Stryker SR497-HPC radio. I was running a 6’ wire whip behind the sleeper, but when I couldn’t get my SWRs down under 3, I went back to my Wilson 5,000 on passenger side mirror. SWRs are better but the best I could get them was between 2 - 2.5. Question: Would it make any difference in SWR, modulation or output depending on which side of truck you put antenna??

First try..turn your rf power all the way down. Turn mic gain all the way down and turn off talk back...sometimes these causes reflected bounce back in your coax..just a thought

I have 2021 Cascadia I run a wilson T 2000 on the driver's side I was told by someone that the passenger side is where all the electronics is and will interfere with performance of the antenna. Your just turning those off for checking swr. I have a rci 39vhp with built-in swr meter and also use a astactic meter. So if swr is too high you may need to trim it the whip some 1/4 inch at a time. If it's on a perch try moving it forward some..but it's probably best to visit a cb shop to have it checked out..that 497 has a of power to it. You want to burn up any finals
