I spotted this in another thread. Looks like overtime pay may be in the works for all of us. I’m sure clock milkers everywhere are jumping for joy.

I have been getting paid overtime since I started my trucking career back in 2002. It’s the only thing that keeps me sane while sitting in East coast traffic.
I am sure there are drivers making more money than me getting paid by the mile, but considering how congested the roads have been the last couple of months, I would quit trucking before switching over to pay by the mile system.Another Canadian driver, Tb0n3, Shackdaddy and 2 others Thank this. -
It sounds good on paper and I for one certainly wouldn’t complain about a fatter paycheck, but is it a double edged sword?
I think if this goes through prices everywhere will likely rise dramatically as no company will simply eat a government mandated increase in labor costs, and an increase in company micromanagement that local guys always raise hell about wouldn’t be far behind.Another Canadian driver, road_runner, Cattleman84 and 1 other person Thank this. -

The FedEx Freight barn nearby allegedly pays it after 40, but from what I’ve heard about that operation they’ll bend over backwards to make sure you don’t get any. Apparently they’ll do things like pull you off your run on a Friday if you’re close to the 40 hour mark or give you the day off entirely.
Now that I think about it, those of us with long runs could lose them completely to some yinyang one man “barely roadworthy” Amazon hauling straight truck that would do it for peanuts since we already have two of those hauling out of our terminal to the foggy bottom swamp 40 miles to the southwest.Another Canadian driver, Kyle G. and bumper Jack Thank this. -
I worked for a local outfit once that was sued and forced to start paying ot. They just did an across the board pay restructure that put everyone on a low hourly pay so with ot we made the same money.
