I know of 2 different guys that had to take the second ramp on the I-5 northbound Grapevine. No tickets issued.
I had one guy pass me on the shoulder of the northbound Grapevine with brakes on fire, almost killed me and about 6 others he should have got the ticket. -
Arg, I hate stupid reporters. She did not run the light, she got stuck there because she stopped for the light. The cycle was too short. The guy recording had been in an accident there and set up the cameras to prove the intersection was unsafe. This proved that it was and he won his case. The truck driver, and her little dog, were fine and no charges were pressed since it was entirely the cities responsibility for setting up a crappy intersection.

I am AMAZED by all of the truck-train crashes!
Do the CDL schools not teach their students to NEVER stop or shift on the tracks?!?
Seriously, WTF?!?
These crashes should NEVER happen.
Brickman Thanks this. -
Um? She stopped for the light [after already being on train tracks]
so you're telling me its so short that she stopped before the tracks like she should have, waited til it turned green and the cars in front of her were clear, took off, and it turned red THAT fast? seems to me that this is just another one of those typical people who think its ok to stop on railroad tracks for some reason.
But it is obvious that the reporter is stupid. The truck wasn't moving, therefore how did it ignore the signal?
And why wasnt the intersection built so that the traffic light *was* the railroad signal? They have one like this at the power plant entrance where i live, seems to work just fine. And trust me, these are the kind of trains that you do NOT want wrecking. -
You got to be F'n kidding me.

The school I went to in the St. Louis area made a HUGE deal out of railroad crossings. We even had a safety rep from Union Pacific give a half day seminar. The one thing he pounded in our heads was to always assume there's a train coming when approaching a crossing. He would ask us all, "What time is it?", and we'd all shout back "Train time!!!!"
It's been 6.5 years since I went to that school and I still think about that to this day. I cross at least two sets of tracks everyday in my current job.

1500!!!! If I ever need to use it I'm going up as much as I can. They will need a hiker to get to me. J/K
The point of when you decide to ditch must be scary.
