Up to the broker.
Or shipper.
Whoever pays you for the haul.
Most likely they will send you to another receiver that will take it...sort of a salvage point.77fib77, Tram-law, BoostedTeg and 2 others Thank this. -
There's a "It's always watermelons" thread.
Watermelon, the scourge of the freight industry. -
Food bank after it's been released and paid for. In Louisianna you'll have no problem getting rid of them.

Never hauled watermelons ... with me it's candy canes. Every time I haul them at least 2 cases will be damaged out. And they're the only thing I've ever had damaged out.
Upside, free candy canes buy a lot of goodwill at the next shipper.Tram-law, Vampire, Another Canadian driver and 4 others Thank this. -
Old folks home will be more than happy to have them too, but probably not an entire truck load.

So what happens when it’s rejected do carriers still get paid ?
Vampire, Another Canadian driver and BennysPennys Thank this. -
The carrier gets paid. Depending on why it was rejected the carrier's insurance pays for the product, or the shipper writes it off.Vampire, Another Canadian driver and BennysPennys Thank this.
