Wouldn't one running on CNG from landfill gas with hybrid drive line be better for environment and way cheaper?

Cheaper for sure. But if you need a zero emission truck, battery is the only solution.

Electricity is never zero emission, even when using solar/wind. Emissions were emitted during the production and installation of all electric production.
