Thanks for using the word "allegedly"... I appreciate that. Myself and the other three trucks all pulled off onto an exit ramp, which had a reasonable median and all trooper vehicles had their lights kept on. Inspections are about everyone's safety, so I'm fine with them as long as we're off the highway like we were. Also, IF the other trucks were speeding and unsafe then maybe they were issued violations that were deserved- I don't know. In my case, I don't think he got a "clean" radar read on my truck's speed due to the pickup that was flying in the left lane next to me. He seemed pretty cool, and was definitely more wanting to do an inspection rather than issue a ticket. Noting his suspicion of speeding on that report was weird, though... maybe it was protocol. Anyway, I respect that he explained the lack of consequence to my or my employer's record.

I feel you were done wrong by the whole incident, but learn from it and just watch the speed, especially in construction zones.Southeast Trucker Mike Thanks this. -

Not a guess, just facts.
Problem is, you gave the officer a reason to inspect you by the alleged speeding. Unfortunately you don’t know if in fact you were over the limit or not. Fact is they are DOT looking for trucks not 4 wheelers..
Nonetheless, if anyone tried turning the speed down on my truck, I’d quit too.
Next time look for a non-nanny companySoutheast Trucker Mike and ZVar Thank this. -
Just because it hasn't shown up yet doesn't mean it won't. Some states take up to 90 days (or longer) for it to be added.Last edited: May 3, 2022

Driving for 2 months for this company.
The SP did you a big favor. Not sure what a speeding ticket in a construction zone does to your MVR. It's not good.
All of us can be inspected anytime. No reason required other than you're driving a CMV.
I see nothing wrong with the companies punishment. I see nothing wrong with you're quitting, I do see it as irrational behavior, quitting a job you said you like.
I would not quit over a short term "fix" from the company.
There's plenty companies looking for drivers. I'm sure you'll find another job. Now the list is a little shorter to choose from. Quit again and you'll have even a shorter list. Soon enough you'll have no list.
Good on you to get an (almost) clean inspection.
Good luck.gentleroger, Bean Jr., tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
For the record, though... I would never take a job driving a truck governed at 64- it would make me unhappy. But that's a topic for another time... -
nikmirbre Thanks this.

OP is right for quitting, if someone threw a hissy fit, it is the company's safety guy.
There was no reason for punishing the OP pre-emptively without any damage to the company's CSAChieftains and Southeast Trucker Mike Thank this.
