Sorry if I’m posting this in the incorrect place new around here lol, I purchased a 2022 389 with a efficiency series 605 2050. My question is what rpm will actually damage this motor? reason for my question is the other day I was trying to up shift by splitting a gear and didn’t let the gear fall in before I got back into it and caused it to rev up to about 2000-2100 where i think it hit rev limiter. My main question is will this damage the motor? It was not in gear or anything just flared up. Bottom end or top end will hurt from this or should they hold up to little missaps like these

Sweet spot in most newer engines is between 1400-1600. You didn’t hurt the engine,Cummins could run 2100. Look at your engine plate. It should say the rpms,.

you are fine. i have run it at 2k rpms when descending a hill. just keep it below 2200 and you will be fine

Diesel Dave and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

605/2050 must be performance series not efficiency.
Landincoldfire and Jacoooooooo Thank this. -
You can damage valves by running to high.but im guessing that a quick jump would not do it.

Engine Crankshaft Speed/Position - Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range - Moderately Severe Level
Conditions For Setting The Fault Codes
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected the engine speed was greater than 2500 RPM for 0.25 seconds

Even 2100 all day long won't hurt it besides drinking fuel. In the oilfield trucks I ran they were geared super low and ran 1900 at 65. Gov on them was set at 2250
