Ha, $250/mo to feed your dog???? I've had dogs most of my life. They get table scraps or dry dog food. Im sure your dog has a positive influence on your life, but get real. Its a dog.

I'm not shocked as we just built a new house. For this little job from the earlier post I put footers in for a 12x20 barn that I had moved from somewhere else. It cost $450 to get it moved 6 miles which I thought was really good considering the next lowest offer was $750. Materials basically doubled that cost. Never mind my free labor. I just miss the good ol days when if you had a small project requiring some lumber it didn't set you back several hundred dollars.

Mine has to eat raw meat. I'm not about to change her diet now after years feeding her raw meat.
She was swallowing stones. She loves to dig in my backyard too. So, it's impossible to clear all stones. Someone suggested something must be missing from her diet since she is a stray. Well, she is a hunter. She most likely hunted for food. I don't want her killing rabbits in my backyard. Once I started feeding her real meat, no more surgeries to remove stones from her stomach. Though she will kill and eat a rabbit if given a chance.
Each surgery was about $1,000 to remove those stones. I was about to give up on her. She did that a few times once I adopted her.
She doesn't like dry food. She will have a bit. But she will not eat much of it. She looks pretty healthy. Not overweight. She gets raw chicken or beef. Chicken was inexpensive, so it ended up mostly in her diet. Occasionally, she will get raw salmon. She gets table food too.
I had a german shepherd once and she wasn't spoiled like that.

Exactly while reading this post, my wife is dishing up Tilapia and rice for our little Shih Tzus. Lol. They each get a plate of whatever we are having for supper.

The wife and I feed are pups a mix of wet and dry . If the first ingredients are cornmeal or something close to it we avoid , we also supplement with glucosamine and fish oils . My wife's dog made it to 14 and my current dog is 16 , both over 50lb dogs . Just like humans exercise and healthy diet lead to long happy lives.

Mine get regular old kibble, and the random human food treat.

    Beagle/King Charles mix - 13
    Bealge/Jack Russel/Demon mix - 4
    German Shepard/Retriever mix - 3

All 3 in perfectly fine health. They go for check ups regularly, and go to the dog park quite often.

Of course, they get carrots and healthy things for snacks/treats. The youngest loves bread so he gets some of that maybe once a week. I don't know why but he goes nuts for bread. Doesn't matter what kind of bread. He see's bread, he turns into a freaking junkie. It's hilarious, cute, and annoying all at the same time.

What other folks feed their dogs, is their business. If someone wants to spend money on chicken, beef an fish to make their dog's dinner, more power to them, nothing wrong with such a diet. Same if someone wants to spend the extra money for the fancy dog food at the store. If you want to spend 45 bucks for a 10lb bag of some natural dog food...you go right ahead. Your money, do as you wish with it.

I'd rather spend the money on my dogs than 1300 bucks for a cell phone, or 100+ for skinny jeans, or 300 for some stupid shoe designed by some idiot who plays sports, raps, or from Hollywood, etc.

Sirscrapntruckalot - Chances are...I like my dogs more than I'll like you.
