Are "manual transmissions only" types of drivers supertruckers?

I've driven both and not having to shift is a nice feature. The Volvo auto had a downside. It would occasionally throw a trans code and go into neutral. It would do it at the most inopportune time. It once did it in the middle of a six lane intersection. Pretty embarrassing to be blocking all that traffic like that. After about five minutes and it would go back to working fine.

I still find the manual to be more reliable. It also seems to be more common to see less skilled drivers in automatics. I don't say that as a derogatory statement, just my observation. My prediction is that you will see far less manuals offered in trucks over the next 10 years.

    Won’t take ten years .

you can’t buy a manual teams in a pickup anymore , nor in any car except a few sports cars , then they have the gall to charge more for the manual than the automatic as a way to discourage people from getting the manual

even the new V8 Fiero , uh, I mean the new corvette , is only available with a slush box . No manual trans available at all. I guess that’s understandable since it mostly old geezers who buy corvettes now , but still , if you wanna call your car a sports car it should be available with a manual .

Wonder what kind of market exists for converting new pickups over to manuals?

Our fathers must subscribe to the same school of thought. That was always his favorite thing to say word for word if I ever said I didn't know how to do anything.

I just bought a 2022 Subaru crosstrek, not a sports car. I bought the 6 speed manual. The EPA rates the manual with a significant mileage penalty of 25 mpg combined. I'm getting 32.8 mpg with a significant number of hills. I am very happy with the car so far. They do still exist, you have to look for them
