Too much weight

That was at the Flying J, hwy 158 Midland Tx. I drove past that before the wreckers showed up.

 

No, but I watched a steel step deck break in about the same spot and he only had 44k of cable reels on. It was quite the sight to watch

 

I guess my point is. Over loading mixed with rough roads caused the cracks. Piss poor maintenance resulted in not catching it and resulted in breaking his wagon in half. It didn’t just snap on the first load.

 

Poor maintenance, haphazard inspections, bad roads, they all add up. They accelerate the wear schedule and things start breaking before they should.
I used to work for a guy that insisted we run legal weight or as close to it as possible. He figured the extra wear and tear on the machinery wasn't worth the little bit of extra revenue when you figure in the downtime and unavailability of the equipment. He got rich in this business so I tend to watch how he did and copy it. So far it's working.

 

I sure feel sorry for anybody who has to pull a spring ride trailer up and down lease roads and over cattleguards.

 

How about how old is the trailer? When I ran the pneumatic setup we had, got bored during an unload, and looked at the data plates for both the trailer and the pup. Both were almost as old as I am, and I ain't young.
Bet a soda the build date on that is 76/77/78.
