You're not going to need 15 lbs of boost to maintain 55 if you need that at 75. There will be less load on the engine due to decreased wind resistance. That means fuel mileage should increase.

But you do, momentum is a thing. All I know is slower vehicle and engine speeds do not equal better mileage, not driving my Cat anyway.Bret1984 Thanks this.

Anytime I’ve experienced an mpg gain when driving faster (on paper for more than a few tanks) I’ve always then tested and found leaks in my charge air cooler.
-
Just replaced that in January or December when I did my radiator.Bret1984 Thanks this.
-
Did you smoke test it when you put it all back together?
To get an accurate average you really need to run the same speed and track every tank, then slow down and run that speed ideally for a month. If you’re running 1650 rpm then splitting down and running that gear at 1650 at a slower speed should result in better mileage. It’s just physics. We’re all just trying to shove a brick through the wind.loudtom Thanks this. -
I don't have a smoke machine or anything to smoke test them. To see if we have a leaking charge cooler we just set it on a garbage can necks up and fill it with water. This thing isn't happy if you try to run 1650 in 17, doesn't sound happy if you know what I mean.Bret1984 Thanks this.

I'd contribute to OOIDA for the right cause, such as ELD at the time or this speed limiter...even a grand...heck, even two, if they were to announce a coordinated effort where every penny is accounted for. Imagine every o/o would contribute a grand to outbid those Senators and Congressmen that decide things! We could overturn the ELD and what not...that's what I call true solidarity and a real fight.
It also depends what speed they are talking about, If it is no more than 80 mpg there is practically nothing to make noise about...but I doubt it is only that.Bret1984, ProfessionalNoticer, Rubber duck kw and 1 other person Thank this. -
If I thought my signature would even one person in the government suffer I’d be out tagging right now.ProfessionalNoticer and Rubber duck kw Thank this.

I like the way you think, Joe. IMO, that's a real protest. I let my OOIDA membership expire years ago but would certainly rejoin and toss a grand in too to fight this. Maybe they could put something together for us to make something actually happen. Ever considered broaching the subject with them? You're really on to something here.

Looks like the ATA has finally gotten their wish to reduce competition. They were trying well before '16 to make this happen with Dan England pushing for it as the ATA chairman along with other competition reduction policies. They claim this is to help them achieve their goal of reaching 0 deaths on the highways of America. The only thing I can figure out is shooting deaths don't count towards that statistic.
Think it's time to take the pay cut for a couple years ang start that programming job.Geekonthestreet, TallJoe and Bret1984 Thank this.
