If the TC is the next great thing, why Detroit abandoned it on the DD15? (They had it from 2007 to 2014). As for the pulling power I just care to a point, what needs the job done. What I care about fuel economy, reliability and longevity.

Volvo seems to have figured out with their engineering how to get reliability. I think long term maintenance with the Detroit was why they dropped it.
I would suspect you'll see it coming back though ...

Detroit these last few years went to a much simpler platform than before seems like they are still acheving fuel economy so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.

    Agreed.
supposedly the X15 Cummins might be going TC to compete with VoMack and Detroit.

Well the DD platform went always from tc in 2014 I have not seen new x15 yet but I’m not hearing good stories for people personally I think that Cummins days in the on highway engine are number specially with all manufactures going to their own engine platforms now. I just don’t see them lasting to much longer in the engine market. They have a lot of off highway production they might stick with that.

    Agreed.
Cummins is being pushed out after Paccar got their basic design they're not pushed like they used to be.

It's a shame how little choice you have anymore in engines for semi trucks.

well this is going to be almost identical to european market i believe that every Make has their own platform of engine and transmission, Eaton will stick around cuz they worked with cummins and paccar for the new auto trans in kw and pete all accesible thru paccar software, common technology, but cummins is not a standart motor or how it used to be back in the day now everyone has their own powertrain platforms all across the board and you have to special order something in order for it to have a cummins inside, no one wants to give up comfort of i shift with volvo and you can not get i shift unless u get a volvo engine. i'm seeing alot less trucks get made with cummins motors in general, KW and PETE customers putting up a little resistance but that will not last much longer i,m sure. The biggest headache from all this is going to come that when you break down on the road you need to be towed to a dealer cuz less and less people are working on these manufacture specific engines.
