I've only driven 2 volvos in my life. One was a 2012 and now a 2009. Fleet trucks, old Dominion and now Frito lay. Usually drove a Freightliner at OD. But both volvos share the same odd thing. (To me anyway)
When you want to change the temp in the cab, either warmer or cooler, it takes several minutes to feel a difference. Not warm enuf in Kentucky to be using the AC, just turning up or down the temp control.
Is this common or have I found the only 2 in the world that do it?
HVAC question that seems Volvo specific?

this is very common due to volvo not running blend door they actually run coolant valve that will shutt off coolant circulation in cab and it takes a min for the heater core to cool down or heat up FRL will run blend door and they will switch from hot to cold side a lot quicker response.
Another Canadian driver and KB3MMX Thank this. -
Thanks for the info. Have to say I prefer the freightliner way.

Well I don't have to put up with the odd HVAC behavior anymore. Last night I was going down the hiway with a Regen going on. I was wrong about the year, it's a 2011. Or it was I guess. It caught fire and burned up.

I wonder how that coolant valve works and if it's the reason that hot air will not blow in the winter. Only way to stay warm is to hit the recirculation button and blow hot air from the sleeper.
-
Usually you can not stay warm because the heater core tends to get plugged and looses efficiecy over time if heater core is new dont need to hit recirc or anything it will make it hot inside but over time, they tend to get plugged and do not heat up as well.

My 2014 670 would run you out of the cab in the winter if you turned it up.dbny5000 Thanks this.
