I told my boss the truck needed repairs. It was in the shop last month for 3 week for the same thing. And not almost 2 weeks for the same this as last time. And now he said he has to come up with x amount of dollars for repairs and wont pay break down intil im back on the road

What did you get for the last breakdown and when did you get it?
You get what you negotiate. As in all business negotiations you have to be prepared to walk away from the table.

Breakdown pay should be clearly explained upon time of hire. If they did not offer to put you in another truck while yours is down, is a red flag. The boss telling you how much it is going to cost to fix the truck, is a red flag! The boss using the phrase, "I have to come up with X amount of dollars to get the truck fixed" is a red flag! Have your exit strategy in place and ready to execute asap!
