Hey guys and girls. Gonna be lookin at a 2015 579 pete. Truck has an isx15 with 500k. Have any of you pulled the fuel pump head for inspection before purchasing? Wondering if they'd even let my mechanic pull it. Just the barrel and plungers go dor about $900, a new head is around $2k plus labor. Even worse is should it have the ceramic plungers its basically a ticking time bomb. Would rather catch this before buying then be held responsible shortly after purchasing. Thank you kindly

You need to get a agreement from the seller to what's going to happen if it has not been updated yet?

Yup. Company i worked for a couple years back got several dozen ISX powered trucks. Turns out every single one of them had ceramic pumps. Within 2 weeks half of these brand new trucks were getting new engines. Within 3 months every single one of them had gotten at LEAST one new engine and several were on their 4th or in one case their 5th. That company sold as many as they could and went to paccars. Sadly we got stuck with one of the few they kept and that #### thing was in the shop every month for over 2 years for major expensive repairs.
It also doesnt help that my family has history with cummings motors. We consider the #### things cursed. This is because EVERY SINGLE TIME one of our family has gotten a cummings they tend to gernade within 6 months and be a constant never ending money pit. Doesnt matter if they are new or used either. Hell our family has had better luck with #### maxxforce engines. -
