All I’m saying is it’s not a big deal. At least imo. Also these tracking services like MacroPoint and trucker tools tie directly into broker’s Tms’ when the customer wants an update they can log into that Tms and see where the shipment is. Immediately and no playing phone tag.
It’s a value add. Nothing more nothing less. However like most value adds they become industry standards. From my perspective it’s a value add that cost me nothing, so why would I charge for it?
If you refuse to do it, why not do as you did. Simply inform them that you aren’t going to do that. Either they agree or you part ways. But to say I’m going to do it and charge $500 for it is silly. You’re not that against it if $500 will change you mind.

If the risk is so big, let them put it on company trucks. They have low risk already. Read your carrier contract, the risk is on you.
However like the Big Blue Florida star. They will use it to collect detention from shipper. Then tell you shipper don't pay detention.
These brokers up charge shipper every chance they have and don't care. Then the trucks are expected to "just understand".
Its not all black and white folks. -
I understand. I'm also not here to say who is right or wrong. Do whatever is comfortable to you and your operation.
I'm only sharing my personal perspective.
I really like a broker telling me a shipper don't pay detention. Then I inform them I dont have a contract with shipper. My contract is with ABC brokerage. This never goes well. But I have no problem fighting for my time and effort.
It won't change the industry, but it changes my bank account. -
my accessorial charges are all outlined on each and every rate confirmation. My agreement is with the broker not the shipper. I’m also paid detention when riggers are late. They are late most of the time. Two can play that game

We posted at the same time. I do exactly the same. Idgaf what the shipper does. My agreement is with them.

Was in the gym watching a young guy bench. He works really hard and is making gains, BUT if he continues on his present course, he’s going to blow his shoulders out. Should I say something to him about this? The guy is making gains, and he has the right to work out any way that he wants….do I say anything to him about the potential hazard I see? What are the odds that this guy just sees me as this know-it-all type that thinks he’s some sort of expert?

You mind if I offer some advice….. and see what his answer is from there?? -
And….. the tornado arrives home from college.

After a few attempts to help turn into debates, you become a little gun shy. No dog in that fight, and so there’s a desire to avoid any sort of debate. The reason why we continue doing it is because you meet people who got no help, no warnings and suddenly, at a young age, GAME OVER.
LittleBrother wants me to meet this kid from his work, 21, who grew up in a strict religious household, left home and got his own place, met a girl, fell in love, had sex…
…for the first time at 20…(it’s coming)
…got her pregnant (dark clouds completely blocking the sun in an ominous way)…
…got the gift that keeps on giving, gonorrhea…
and got arrested and did time for the assault that he did AFTER. (The world is completely devoid of light.)
I wonder why LittleBrother wants me to talk to him. He’s gone down a path I know nothing about. If I can help, I will help, but I hate hearing these type stories.jamespmack, CAXPT, cke and 3 others Thank this.
