It was last summer called on a long island load for the hell of it. Only 200 miles I wanted 2400 to go in there. The broker asks why does everyone quote me 2k +? Well if you have ask.....

I've had some pretty high offers over the years but I continue to turn them down. It's not the money, it's the principal. I despise NYC in every conceivable way.

Last August. Picked a load in PA on I-80 to Bronx.
    About 300miles. Paid 20 a mile.

Best load I ever took. Only issue was I couldn't find parking after unloading

I mean it is and it isnt.
Its not thrilling, and imo kinda dumb for him to have set idling outside of million dollar apartments overlooking lower manhattan in the middle of the day and be surprised that someone #####ed about it/
    Oh well.
on the other hand, I guess I can chalk it up to a surcharge for offering city service all these years and not having ever got a ticket myself?
####it. @sawmill said if there’s gonna be a swim team somebody gotta get wet. Run an area that’s filled with snitchin ### #####es and at some point you get snitched on.

There is also an organized crime aspect (other than the government) to trucking in Hawaii, or at least on Oahu. Cutting rates can have stiffer penalties than the government issues.

Try to find an outgoing load out of Newfoundland Canada.
The bidding usually ends in free hauling for whatever leaves the island.
A lot of times. It's an island thing.

Cutting rates is pretty common on the Big Island from what I saw when I lived there. Timecards and billable hours would just be fudged to make it all work out in the end.
