Hello, I'm not a new driver yet but once I turn 21 I intend to get my CDL and become a otr trucker. I had some questions about getting a job with a bad driving record. I have a hit and run, that got immediately dismissed because the cops falsely accused me of it. But it's still on my record and will affect me and I have 2 speeding tickets nothing reckless though. Would I still be able to get any sort of trucking job?

How is it that a dismissed charge of hit and run remains on your record?

Charges that are dismissed are not applied to your driving record.

That hit & run shouldn't be on your MVR as a hit & run. Maybe as an accident you were involved in.
When were the speeding tickets and for what speeds?

ANY Speeding Ticket REQUIRES A Traffic Attorney In The State/County/City Who Challenges It In Court!!
    ALL License Classes Represented!
5-15 Over IS A Big Deal In Trucking especially with "Extenuating Circumstances"!!

What Happens In Your Personal Vehicle Continuously Affects Your Potential Trucking Adventures!!

I no copy the Hit & Run Listed on MVR if It Was Nothing.
Something Sketchy in MY Opinion, But I'm Not An Attorney or Lawyer or Represent As One.

On strictly a driving record basis. IF you can get a regular unrestricted driver's license almost 100% of the time you can get a CDL. This is assuming you have never had a CDL and are not under some suspension required by part 383.51/52. Once you get the CDL the decision to hire you will be based on your insurability. I am not sure if there is anything left to add. When it comes down to it, there is the law and there is what the insurance company will allow.

Where is your location; state & nearest city/town?
Most cdl schools let 18 yr. olds get a cdl. You have to pay for the school though.

Most insurance companies go back 3 years except DUI counts for at least 5 years [experienced one insurer who's limit for DUI was 10 years].

Most also allow (1) at fault accident.

Sounds like you need to have copies of the accident reports and should contact the court, they should be able to issue a letter describing the outcome of the hit and run case since you say it still shows.

Having documentation for anything less than 3 years old AND anything major that still shows up will help the carrier show their insurance if you were at fault, etc. will improve your odds

In some states when you have dismissed/dropped traffic charges. They won't show up on your MVR but in a background check of public records they will find the court documents related to the dismissal of the charges.
