What 12 volt items do you.....

Most 12 volt items are junk . I use AC products with an inverter .

 

If you want to save money and eat meals you can fix in the truck, the little lunchbox sized 12V oven sold in most truck stops for about $25 is a good buy. You can heat water, soups, and smaller prepackaged meals. I heat soups and other canned products such as chili right in the can. Takes about 30 minutes. I also heat water and packaged meals that will fit in the oven.

 

I'm with RickG on this one...

We bought and had installed a 2500-watt inverter.
This runs our microwave, TV, VCR/DVD player, Playstation, and crockpot.

The only 12-volt inverter we use is a very small one that runs my laptop.

Okay the 12 volt products aren't the best BUT some of us can't have a big ol' converter thus we can't use ac appliances and a microwave is out of the question.

So, here's my choices:
The roadpro lunch box oven. I like it better than the other brand.
The roadpro slowcooker.
The roadpro smartpot (excellent for heating water faster for noodles, tea etc.)


I'm thinking of getting the roadpro sandwich maker. You could do waffles or pancakes in these!

I also have the frying pan and saucepan/popcorn popper but no longer use them like I did OTR.

Absolutely do NOT waste your money on the toaster/pizza oven. Also don't waste money on the road pro 12-Volt Thermal Travel Mug, get one at Wal-mart or Target they'll heat much hotter.


I love my bunk warmer which is like an electric mattress pad. I have no idea what brand it is since Santa brought it to me.

We have a coleman 12v cooler purchased at wal-mart. GREAT investment.

And we have a roadpro dry/wet vac that irritates the heck out of me because the hose is incredibly short. But it's better than the "dustbuster" type clone.

Can y'all tell we're a gadget couple? LOL

I also use an inverter and 110v household appliances. I did have a 'lunchbox' oven previously and was impressed with it, but I no longer need it. If the company that you drive for allows it, an inverter will enable you to buy regular household appliances and buy them for less money than the 12v ones will cost in a truckstop. For the record, I have a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and electric skillet in my truck. The only 12v appliance that I use is my truck refrigerator. I went through 2 of the Coleman 12v coolers before finally giving up and buying a regular 12v refrigerator (Avanti, 12v/DC or 110v/AC, $200 at most truckstops or Northern Tool).
