I had 2 codes most recently
Dtc p245700 and p225E00
First one is for egr cooler, they replaced it with aftermarket part cause at the moment oem was out of stock. After that I did a 1500miles trip and truck trew the code again, had to do a regen once and it lasted 1hour and 45mins. Thats when this strange sound started, like something in exaust is plugged. Sound started after I took it from the dealer, so I don't know if they could mess something up.
Other code is for out nox sensor and they replaced it couple of days ago.
They also replaced that aftermarket egr cooler cause it was a faulty part,
I ask them every time if they did a forced regen after changing these parts but they act dumb, they do a test drive and thats it. This turned out to be complete pain in the a..
Worst time for this to be happening.

The first code is a cooler efficiency issue. The cooler could be plugged, EGR valve sticky, sensor biased according to Volvo troubleshooting. What they don't suggest is over fueling and higher than expected exhaust gas entering the cooler.

Egr, egr cooler, 7th injector are new.
Truck stayed in the shop cause of back pressure or whatever is causing very low flow through the tip.
Since its in the shop I don't really need that otr tool right now, but I should probably get it when all this comes to an end.
Spoke with them earlier, will know more info later in the day.
Appreciate the helpAnother Canadian driver and spsauerland Thank this. -

When it happens again, go on the driver's side of the engine and look for a primer pump.
Inside the frame, kinda hard to find. Unscrew the top knob,
rotating counter clockwise and start pumping fuel.
Count how many times you pump until you feel an increased pressure.
That's when you switched from pumping air to pumping fuel.
Continue pumping for another 20-30 times.
Try another start.
If it starts, great. If not, keep pumping.
If this action corrects the issue, you should check
and replace a check valve placed on the fuel line.
It's role is to prevent fuel to return to the fuel tanks.
It's an inexpensive part, easy to replace.
Codes:
Are those codes you mentioned active or inactive.
Can they be cleared with a tech tool?
I'm asking this because it seems this unit has more than one issue.
Probably 2 or 3 concomitant problems that needs to properly identified.
What is the soot level reported in the dash when you climb uphill heavy?
Look at it next time you start a hill and see where it's going.
I'll stop right here for now and let other posters to chime in.
It would be helpful to check again and report back to the Forum with your findings.
Good luck. -
Otherwise you risk burning your starter. -
When I used to pull heavy loads I could see soot climbing like in an hour and getting parked regen reques. When pulling light loads not as much. Sometimes soot would be maybe 20% and then it would spike to level 2 and request for parked regen. Never went past number 2 tho.
Looks like they are putting an estimate for injectors and scr. I knew that injectors could be a problem, but they didn't say they pulled the out to test them, I'm afraid they are just guessing. Same thing with the scr. Never got a low performance scr code. Also if I take it to another shop I don't know what the deal is gonna be with those guys. I'm 15k deep so far and who knows where its gonna end.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
The competence level in the Volvo sphere
is erratic bordering Incompetence.
Your unit is out of warranty. Any local shop specialized
in Volvo trucks will and can do a better job
and provide a better customer service than any Volvo dealership.
Throwing injectors at an engine without a proper diagnostic it's sheer lunacy.
It may or may not be necessary but needs to be tested
and everything else eliminated before spending 6k or more.
If I were you I would start the search for another service provider while your unit is down, right now.
I would visit the shop and spend couple hours watching
them working while discussing your specific
issues with the shop owner or the shop foreman.
Ask them for a free second opinion when your unit is out of the Volvo tight grip.
Come back here and share your observations with this community.
OK?
