Thing happen I have seen king pins break. Fifth wheels come off trucks frames. And steel chains ripped rate off of trailers. The point is nothing is a 100 % sure. So don't pass judgement till you know all the facts and walk in this man's shoe's.

Drivers probably guilt ridden since it stated that he was “ordered not to contact the victims family). I’ve never hauled coils so can’t speak on securement but they look like they’re a pita to chain down.

Looks like the facts were already brought up at the trial and the sentence is the end result.

Investigators say there was no strap or chain over the coil, which is required.

They also say another semi truck driver reported Blackwell had been driving erratically before the crash.

Initial police reports said Blackwell claimed another semi had cut him off and ran him off the road right before the steel coil fell.

Police say they found damage on the other semi, but there was no evidence Blackwell’s semi had gone off the road.

How could they determine there was no strap or chain over the coil when the coil was plowed into somebody's car?

maybe traffic cameras, dash cams, ?

nothing at the scene like broken pieces, straps, chains on the ground to indicate anything was there?

Are they saying it wasnt secured at all? Or just missing a strap over the top?

Ok so secured over there top? Im not exaxtly sure thats required. Unless thats a state law. I have hauled probably 100 coils and never once threw a strap over the top of it.
