On truck motors they are yes, ive changed my fair share of them. Roughly an hour job for those. Apparently on the ls1 and ls2 at least they are on the sides of the block below the header. May be able to loosen the header and tilt it out of the way and get to it.

The 76? Star I pulled heavy with in the early 80s had 1inch cable bolted to the walking beam pivot on both sides and slung up to the front axle. We the had a 1 inch sling that pinned into the heavy bumper and shackled to the rear cable and the 7 or more was hooked to the sling to spread the pull to 3 points on the tractor.
