Yeah, what's wrong with pepper spray (don't have, but..). Know mace is illegal many places. Both in Canada!

You sir, are absolutely correct. However, if an armed and dangerous person(s) were to attack, the unarmed, defenseless victim would, without doubt, have their life destroyed. My sense of self preservation is too strong to just roll over and die. If I do what is right and proper, I can live with my messed up conscience.

I dont want or intend to do anything illegal I just thouhgt this was a topic to find out the feeling and thoughts of the people on the road. I would agree that it would be very devastating to take a life, but I would much rather have a fighting chance of my life , than to have been the one taken..

The professional thiefs out there know truck drivers are not suppose to carry guns. They take advantage of that fact and easily rob them of rig & cargo. More are starting to do the criminal's 'smart thing 'of getting rid of witnesses---see recent Grand Praire, TX driver shot. As it gets worse, something will have to be done, but as of 'right now,' carrying firearms is ILLEGAL.

We have more opportunities to meet and 'engage' road ragers!! Who else drives 11 hrs/day in a 4-wheeler? But, I agree, it's what I call "the speed-bump' philosophy---we ALL must suffer for a FEW irresponsibles!!

Xmas before last I was going to NC to visit family and I called AR state police about bring my pistol with me. They said that I would have to call the states I was traveling through and check with them. I was in my POV. The way it was explained to me was that unless you have a carry and conceal permit from your home state that it's illegal to have it in your car/truck. Most states honor other CCW permits. From that info I took it as it didn't matter if it was a big truck or 4 wheeler. My saftey director works a a weekend deputy and we have had alot of talks about this subject. His point is that yes by law its illegal to carry in a big truck unless you have federal permits or run govt loads. But to the average driver he also said this. What would you rather have happen? Be able to go to court to pay a ticket or have your family mourn over you for years to come and not be able to watch your kids grow up. I was robbed at gunpoint April of last year around Chicago for $60. It was the most helpless feeling in my life and I will never be in the postion ever again. I now carry a .380 with me. Hope I never have to use it but now atleast I have a fighting chance.
