As hokey as it sounds, that movie had an influence on me.
I was driving a truck in the Army at the time and had just about decided I wanted to try it as a civilian when that movie came out.
I even had a CAT hat, ala Jerry Reed.
That movie sold a lot of TransAms and CB radios too.
Even Rosalyn Carter had a base station in the White House.
Her handle was The First Lady.

i'm not gonna say it was a life long dream for me.. it's just somethin i always knew i'd be good at.. my is a truck driver and that's all i've ever known him to be in the 24 years i've been living..

on the first day of school when the teacher would ask us what we wanted to be when we grew up, all of the other kids say wild #### like lawyer, doctor, astronaught, fireman, president.. they weren't wild in the sense that it was impossible to reach those goals.. just not something you'd expect a six year old to shoot for.. me on the other hand, "Truck Driver"

they would always ask if i wanted to go to college and i'd reply with the fact that i hated school.. i hate it being free, and if i paid for it i'd probably hate myself also. chances of me getting rich are slim, building up a nice retirement are slim, becoming a very hansom/sexy man, pretty much no exsistant.. but what i do know is that i'll be happy..

i know for a fact that i have a low, and i mean a low tolerance for strangers.. i can deal with people for a period of time, but after awhile i just gotta get away and be alone, and driving will give that to me.. being in the army is NOT giving that to me. i wont have sixty different people with seventy different opinions yelling at me.. there's one rule book and forty eight states.. i dont plan on traveling through half of them...

i'm not worried about being clueless or loosing my ### cause i've seen what can happen.. i'm mechanically inclined so that doesn't scare me.. everyone is sayin that times are hard, but then at the same time i'm reading that people have been letting their rigs sit for six months because they refuse to pull cheap freight.. now either they're bs'in or they made some serious change at one point in time in order to sit like that..
