I watched a YouTube video yesterday from "Trucking with Louis". He recently started with Western Express after getting fired from Schneider. The video was basically about why you shouldn't work for WE.

One of the things he said was that drivers are responsible for paying for damages done in an accident. He said they deduct $500 a week from your check. Does anyone know if this is true?

The guy who made the video had 4 preventable accidents in 4 months with Schneider so he is pretty concerned about being on the hook for thousands of dollars of damage.

He also said drivers are responsible for paying for fuel used for going off route and logging Personal Conveyance.

    4 preventables in 4 months? I wouldn't hire him.

He just might want to consider a different career path.

No, it's not legal if he is an employee. They can fire him, but can't make him pay for damages.

Well according to him only one was his fault. I'm just someone who is hoping to get a CDL so I shouldn't judge but I feel like if some of the folks I've seen can get one then I should be able to as well.

That driver plays the victim when he's the one making poor choices.
You'll meet drivers like him often. Ignore them and walk away.

    I had 2 Trucking Accidents: 2003 (NC), 2013 (AL).
    Both Deemed "Not My Fault".

You are mistaken. Plenty of companies have you responsible for the deductible.

A company doing something and it being legal are two different things.
