deBoer is a fine company to work for. Good miles and outstanding treatment. I'm a rookie driver so I can't compare it to any other company.
However, my treatment and miles have all been outstanding. If anyone hits on this I'll be more detailed. ........thanks to all you guys for steering me away from bad companies......especially turbotrucker.

I'm looking for a company for my next career. Ready for a change after 30 years. Why deBoer?

For a rookie you can't beat deBoer. We never go to the northeast and they mainly run rookies north and south. Wisconsin to to southeast and Texas. If you want to run West they will run you out there. Rookies don't go thru the mountains in winter and they will work with you on where you want to run within reason. If you really don't like going to a certain place they won't send you. Of course you can't be to picky they are a trucking company. The main terminal is in Blenker,Wi kind of in the middle of no where but it's nice. We also have terminals in Texarkana and Cedar Hill(suburb of Dallas). They hire from just about anywhere they run. You would have to call them to find out. If your fresh out of school they put you with a trainer for about 28 days and you do train your not a team. The training pay sucks but most training pay does. After that you upgrade and get your truck. They will not run you illegal and never admit that your playing around with your logbooks because they don't like that. Just make your deliveries on time and drive safe and you will be fine. If you have anymore Questions CDR just ask. Enchaly with thirty years of exp you can make more money at another company. I can only vouch for the treatment of drivers and the fact that with that much experience you will get a very nice truck and plenty of miles. I have heard the senior guys complaining that there not getting enough compared to other companies. However these guys stay so the must like something. Like I said and will continue to say the care about there drivers and I can't believe some of the things I read about on this site because I've never had any of those problems with my treatment nor have I heard any complaints from other drivers.

CDR I read your post about your treatment at TMC. Just for anybody who reads this deBoer's safety department would never allow that to happen. Actually nobody would Fleet Managers, night dispatch nobody. Safety is number one.

Easyrider:
Thank you so much for the positive post!! I'm from WI originally, and have many relatives there. I just graduated from a PTDI School and Im very interested. I live in the Nashville area, do they have alot of freight this way? Can you discribe your training a little more in detail, like from Orein. through the next 4 weeks. Also will they allow a small dog, after your assigned your truck? Jon -
It is good to see a positive post. I live in Wisconsin and would be very interested in checking into that company. thanks again

I go thru Nashville alot. I've never delivered there but that doesn't mean we don't. I know of several drivers that live in Tenn. Basically if you decide to go with deBoer they will give you a bus ticket to Texarkana or Blenker I don't really know where they would send you. Doesn't really matter it's all the same. Oreintation is 3 days (paid) after that you go with a trainer. Your trainer could take 1 or 2 days to get there depending on whether you want one that smokes or not. Or he could be there already it just depends. Training varies from trainer to trainer but I have only heard of one bad one. Mine was awesome. Your out about 28 to 30 days. You may go home during training that just depends on the trainer and the freight. Personally I went thru Nashville 3 times while in training so it just depends. If you have any problems with your trainer I guarantee that they will fix it. After that you get your truck and go. Now don't expect a brand new truck it will be about 3-4 years old but it will work. It probaly won't be a condo but you might get lucky and get an old trainer truck. The vast majority are autoshifts, some are fully automatic (mine is), this just depends on what truck is available. You can have a small dog with I think a 300 dollar deposit, not to sure on the cost but I know you can have one. We haul a LOT of paper from mills, these are good loads but they are always heavy so scale every time. The only two drawbacks that I have is are insurance is high and the directions are written buy other drivers. Some drivers write great dir others must be just plain dumb. In any case theres always a phone num to the cust. I sure hope I gave you everything you need give them a call and see if you like what they say. Also, the Flying J there in Nashville is one of our fuel stops so I'm sure you could easily find a deBoer driver there and talk to him. Sorry for making this post so long but I'm leaving tonight if the weather holds so I won't be able to write for 2 weeks.

Easyrider,
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. My Father who was a truck driver many moons ago always spoke of how there was a brotherhood among the drivers and mutual respect. After this reply, I kinda have an idea what he ment.
I will keep in contact and if I decide to go with them, I will make sure you get the referral bonus...I see they are having a contest. I would send you a PM, but this forum will not allow me to, untill have made 20 posts on this forum. If you can send me a PM from your end, please do I want to make sure you get the credit. Is Easyrider your CB Handle?
Thank you again, Have a save trip, that middle section looks rough tonight on the news. Jon
