Anybody know how long it takes to get set up for orientation after they approve your application?

If you are a student it could be a week or two (or more?). My application was approved last week. They put you on a list to attend orientation and have you call every Monday to see if I would be in the orientation for the following Sunday.

I'm at the top of the list and hopefully I'll get confirmed Monday for orientation next Sunday. At Arrow they just ran everyone through orientation and then tried to line you up with a trainer. After orientation I sat in a hotel for a week waiting for them to line up a trainer for me. Maverick is more organized. They line up your trainer and then send you to orientation. So, at Maverick they schedule students to attend per how many available trainers they will have.

If you aren't a student, disregard all this.

Thanks for the info! Guess I'll give them a call Monday. My app was approved earlier this week.

They also have a web portal that you can go to and get your status.

Does anyone know what their policy is on droping trailer somewhere to bobtail home.
Where I live I have no place to park a trailer, but could park tractor in driveway. Just thought i would ask.

I would assume that most if not all companies have the same policy Arrow had. No dropping trailers at truck stops. Anyone can pull up and steal it.

But, you can leave the tracktor and trailer at the truck stop and get someone to pick you up. Just let the fuel desk know your leaving it for a day or two and give them the truck and trailer numbers, tag numbers and a contact number that they can reach you at. At least that was cool with Arrow and it seems reasonable enough that I would expect most companies not to have a problem with leaving it at the truck stop, preferably near your house.

I'll know Monday if I attend orientation with Maverick on January 31st, or if I have to wait another week. My application has been accepted and I'm first on the student list. Unless Howard Transportation calls with comparable hometime, that's the plan.

You can drop your trailer. You have to show them a king pin lock to be able to drop. There is a limit on how far you can drop to bobtail home tho. I dropped about a 1/4 mile away, but seems like it was 10 miles or something to that effect.

The kingpin lock is no problem, and a couple of drivers get permission from store manager at wal-mart to leave trucks and trailers while on hometime. That is only 2 mi from house. Also there is truckstop within 10 mi that I could use. The only problem with having someone pick me up is there isn no one to do so during the week. My wife works mon-fri so if I could get by the house for a day during the week it would be a pain in the ###. Thanks for the replies.

Maverick Policy is you can bobtail up to 10mi each way to drop your trailer. As NoTarps stated you must produce a kingpin lock in person at a terminal to get authorization. You must fill out a paper with directions to your drop location and must sign that you have permission to drop the trailer by the property owner. Verbal permission is ok they just don't want trailers being towed out of wal mart parking lots or any other place a driver may think is ok.
