Skills Test and Pre Trip

When I did my pre trip test which I took in Indiana you start on the passenger side of tractor at the turbo and go around the entire truck. I also remember when going over the drive tires I had to say minimun 3/4 thickness and virgin tires no retreads. I basically had to go over every single part. A kid I was in school with who tested in Kentucky started at the turbo and was able to stop at the drivers door and that completed his pre trip. So each state is different. I was a ball of nerves but once into it the inspector testing me helped ease my fear by cracking a couple of jokes which really helped my nerves go away. Best of luck to you. If you don’t pass first time around don’t worry take it again. It was a life changing opportunity for me, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My husband and I were team drivers for 3 1/2 years we saved our money and now we are independent operators. We are a one truck operation but doing very well for ourselves. Thankfully we got in just under the truck prices skyrocketing.

 

I actually just passed my Class B. It's very easy, for the Pre-Trip, the tester just asked that I inspect from the door to the rear. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I think it really comes down to the type of examiner you get (just hope you don't get a karen lol).
