Missed crane appointment

In this case id say its your fault and your going to need to cough up. You cost them a lot of money via a mistake on your end and cranes arent cheap even if they just sit there. The customer is renting the crane, the crew and the time for both. Additionally heblikely had to rejigger quite a few things to work around ya.

Sorry mate in this case its a you goofed thing. Id write up or at least warn the driver eat the cost and write the whole thing off as a learning experince.

 

Yes, you are responsible for this IMHO. Having said that, $15k is way too much money. I can see a crane company charging maybe $5k, but $15k is absurd.

 

I would say break out the checkbook

 

Not as much as you think. We just had to hire one to fix one of our grain silos at our farm because it was unsafe to do any other way after the wind damage. $7,000 for 4 hours to support it while we replaced the supports that cracked in said wind storm.

 

Ill say of all the loads ive done the past year, Ive always had a crane appt or met a rigging crew to unload, id say roughly %80. Crane crews are expensive. And the further north you go In the country, the more expensive they seem to be.

Id ask to see an invoice or something before I agreed to pay that amount. But, ill also say yes, you are on the hook for the crane costs.
