Yeah.. Its quite a stretch for me.. I post from my blackberry.. But I think I understand.. We really aren't whining friend.. Whining would be something like " oh no.. I hate my life, central hung up on me.. I broke a nail today and my wabasto stopped working in 60+ weather." I'm just mainly trying to inform, friend! No whining here.. The boss man doesn't like whining..

Actually, very few of the people on this thread are lease op's.
Most are or were company drivers.

Well seeing as everyone is posting their $.02, I figured I'd get in on the fun.
I have very little experience. As of today I have 3 mos. working for Central and that's including my month with my trainer. Like Bootlegger, I have past Navy experience which, I am sure he can attest to, means I able to put up with some DEEP Bull-hockey.

Someone on here asked why we chose Central? Like others, I was unemployed. I got out of the Navy in June '09. I kept hearing how bad the economy was and, in my stubborn mindset, said "it can't be that bad." Well it was! So I sat, and sat, and sat, while the bills continued rolling in. Luckily I had a measily $400/wk in unemployment to help. I looked into other, more distinguished companies. However, Central was the only one that offered the whole "1/2 price if stay for a full year deal" and, I did my homework, that 1/2 price works out to be less than any private school in my area.

To echo what has been said over and over, Central is a good place to get your feet wet. Nothing more.

As for the L/O's out there...I thought about doing that for approximately .0001 second. Let's take a break for a minute and look at some numbers:
Assuming your weekly payment is $850 for lease/ins (and from what I hear, that's low); multiply that by 52 weeks in a year = $44200 then multiply that by 2 (assuming it's a 2 year lease...which I hear is low too) = $88,400. So after your lease, you paid almost $100K in lease payments and then have to pay a balloon payment! Right now you can get a decent used truck for under $20K!!!!!!
MORAL: PLEASE DO NOT LEASE FROM CENTRAL!

I am looking into getting my own truck (from a dealership) and turning around and leasing back on with Central as a trainer. The way I look at it, Central is a training mill...as such there will always be trainees. With a payment of under $1,000 a month...even Central's measily $.85 for O/O's would be more than enough.

Oh yeah.. I hear ya.. There's hope.. We just adapt and go on.. That's what great about our kind.. We adapt everyday to new situations and we either prevail or learn something new!! These new rules and csa2010 will be hard to deal with.. But let's face it.. We'll abide.. Its our job..

Now I can't say for freight turn around.. I pray that freight picks up and that the economy picks up.. That's all I can do.. Pray.. Untill then.. Ill be smack slober happy with 2500+ mile weeks.. That's 550 pay checks for me!! Well night everyone.. I have a long drive of 150 miles to go home tomorrow!! Stay safe!

I have less than 1 year in the commercial side, but have 6+ as a driver for Uncle Sam and have been surrounded by this industry for decades.

Leasing is a questionable practice which should be approached with extreme caution. Sort of like the killer rabbit in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".
