Some of you may know, but i bought some cordura tarps a month or so back. The tarp builder assured me the material was waterproof and would not need resealed before replacement.
Finally got to use them this week on a lumber load. Pretty light rain, but constant.
During untarping i noticed thematerial had wetted out on the front flap. Once i pulled them, my 70lb 6 footers turned into 150 lb + from wetting out.
FYI before you buy. I spent 1700$ i think on these. Make sure the builder will stand behind them.

You mean it didn't work as advertized?

Are they codura all over or just the sides and flaps?
I've been told..... the 14oz vinyl tops with gotmrtex sides will keep the water out. But only if its sheeting off. If the water lays on it, it will soak thru? Hence the top is still vinyl? -
Did he stand by them or did you get the "Two bad, so sad." reply?

I had a couple of sets of lightweight lumber tarps were the same way. They had rubberized canvas centers with rip stop double weave nylon drops. You could pour water through the drops. They were nice and light and kept the road spray and wind off the packaging on the lumber but that’s about all. I think that’s all they were for really. They were too light to cover anything but packaged lumber with without destroying them, and 2/3 of the tarp was water resistant as opposed to waterproof.

I got a set of light wt. 6ft drops with 7ft flaps from Dothan tarp and they had the normal top with very good water proof drops made out of some hi/tec coating and they lasted me many years of hard use and never had to pay the 1,000$ deductible my co. charged for water damage, and l was able to put them up on trailer with no problem, don't know how much they cost now but 6 years ago they were 625$ for both.
Elroythekid and CAXPT Thank this. -
Condura is water resistant, not water proof. Long rains will soak material. At that point it will do nothing in rain until it dries. Stowing the wet condura is a mess. It is a great strong material just wouldn’t recommend it for OTR opendeck.
